Best Digital Gold Apps in India
The best gold app in India depends on how you plan to buy and sell. OroPocket is built for small, regular gold and silver buys. PhonePe has a scheduled gold SIP, Google Pay lets you buy gold from ₹1, and Paytm puts 24K gold beside everyday payments. Each app handles the purchase; the provider, custody terms and resale price determine what you own and what you can get back.
SEBI has warned buyers about the risks of digital gold. This short video explains the warning:

The best digital gold apps in India
OroPocket: for ₹1 gold and silver buys with a savings habit

OroPocket puts gold and silver at the centre of the app. Buy 24K gold or 999-purity silver from ₹1 using UPI, or set a daily, weekly or monthly SIP for a goal such as a wedding fund. It holds both metals in insured vault custody and offers cash sales and physical delivery.
Purchases and SIP instalments earn Satoshis, small units of Bitcoin, as cashback. Their value can move separately from gold, so treat them as a bonus rather than a return. You can also send gold or silver to a mobile number. The rewards layer may feel busy if you only want a plain gold balance; the ₹1 entry point and SIP are useful if you plan to save in both metals.
OroPocket’s UPI gold-purchase walkthrough shows the steps from payment to a gold balance.
PhonePe: for a gold SIP in an app you already use

PhonePe lets you choose gold from MMTC-PAMP or SafeGold in its gold marketplace. It advertises daily gold savings, a monthly gold SIP and one-time purchases. Its published gold SIP starting amount is ₹100 per month. PhonePe also has a separate 999-purity silver savings product.
Already use PhonePe for UPI? You can set up recurring gold purchases there without adding another investing app. Note which bullion provider you select: the gold is not a deposit with PhonePe. Its gold page lists 0.5 g as the minimum quantity for physical redemption, so small balances may take time to reach coin-delivery size.
Google Pay: for a straightforward ₹1 gold purchase

Google Pay’s Gold Locker help says you can buy MMTC-PAMP gold from ₹1 and sell it back in the app. The locker is tied to your SIM and phone number, a detail to remember if you change either.
It suits an occasional gold purchase in an app you use for UPI. The Gold Locker help pages explain resale; they do not describe a silver flow or goal-based SIP tools. A ₹1 purchase can be worth less than ₹1 at the sell quote.
Paytm: for gold alongside everyday payments

Paytm offers 24K digital gold within its payments app. Its digital-gold product page offers an alternative to buying a full coin. The page does not specify a minimum purchase or enough custody detail to compare those terms with the other apps here.
If you already use Paytm, compare the displayed bullion provider, storage and insurance terms, final grams and live sell quote before setting up recurring purchases.
How to choose the best gold app in India
Look past the app logo to the gold itself
Find the bullion provider and stated purity. PhonePe lets you choose between suppliers; Google Pay names MMTC-PAMP in its Gold Locker help. Look for details of the metal in the vault, its custodian and what the insurance covers. Vault insurance does not protect you against a price drop or a provider failing to honour a claim.
Assess silver on its own terms. Gold availability and purity tell you nothing about a silver balance. OroPocket states 999-purity silver; PhonePe publishes a separate silver product.
Compare the buy quote with the sell quote

Suppose you spend ₹1,000 and the app’s immediate sell quote is ₹950. You are ₹50 down before any market movement, a 5% gap relative to what you paid. This is an illustration, not a quoted spread for any app above. GST on purchase, the provider’s buy-sell spread and delivery or making charges, where applicable, all affect what you keep. India’s GST Council describes a 3% special rate on gold. A ₹1 entry point is useful for building a habit but does not cancel transaction costs.
Use the India gold-rate page for a market reference, then compare the app’s actual buy and sell quotes. If you buy both metals, the India silver-rate page gives you a separate reference for silver.

If you want to… |
Compare these screens before you buy |
|---|---|
|
Save small amounts |
Minimum one-time buy, minimum SIP instalment and UPI AutoPay controls |
|
Sell for cash |
Current buy price, current sell price, any withdrawal restrictions and how the INR payout works |
|
Receive a coin |
Minimum grams for redemption, minting or making charge, shipping and applicable taxes |
|
Save in silver too |
Silver purity, custody, buy-sell quotes and redemption rules, separately from gold |
Match the app to your behaviour
On your first purchase, focus on whether you can read the confirmation screen and find the sell button. A dedicated app may offer goals and both metals; a payment app may feel more familiar. A daily wedding-fund SIP makes saving routine, though the gold price can still fall.
Is digital gold safe and regulated in India?

You do not have to keep a coin at home when the provider holds the metal in a vault. You still face changes in the gold price, the possibility of problems with the provider or its operations, and the cost of trading. Buying through a familiar UPI app does not give digital gold the protections of a SEBI-regulated gold ETF.
In its November 2025 caution, SEBI said digital gold or e-gold products offered online are outside SEBI’s regulatory purview. Securities-market investor protections do not apply. The distinction applies across this category; KYC, vault insurance and a bullion partner do not turn the product into a SEBI-regulated security. If you want SEBI oversight, compare a regulated gold ETF, a different product that usually calls for a brokerage or investment account.

A quick first-purchase checklist
-
Pick gold or silver, then note the bullion provider and the grams shown for the rupees you will pay.
-
Read the custody, insurance and physical redemption terms for that specific metal and provider.
-
Record the final buy quote and the available sell quote at the same moment. The difference is part of your cost.
-
Start with an amount you can leave invested despite a price dip. Set a SIP only if its cadence fits your cash flow.
-
Keep the purchase receipt and know where the sell-to-INR action sits before relying on the balance for an emergency.
Which app should you choose?
Want to build a gold and silver balance from ₹1? OroPocket gives you both metals, UPI SIPs and a cash exit in one dedicated app, with insured vault custody. Treat the Bitcoin cashback as an extra and compare the purchase price. PhonePe fits a familiar payments routine and has a published ₹100 monthly gold SIP. Google Pay makes a ₹1 gold purchase simple. Paytm may suit you if you favour its interface and are comfortable with its live terms.
Gold can be part of a savings plan, though it will not beat inflation every month. Make a small purchase, see what you would receive on sale and decide if a recurring plan works for you. To save in silver too, try OroPocket from ₹1 and compare the quote before you tap Buy.
FAQ
Which gold app is best in India?
The best fit depends on how you buy. OroPocket suits ₹1 gold and silver purchases with SIPs; PhonePe suits a monthly gold SIP in a payments app, while Google Pay offers a simple ₹1 gold purchase. Compare the bullion provider, buy-sell gap and exit terms before choosing.
What is the best app for gold price?
For buying digital gold, use the live buy and sell quotes in the app you intend to transact on, rather than a headline gold rate alone. The gap between those quotes affects what you receive if you sell, even when the market price has not moved.
