Saving gold for a wedding? Start with the bill you expect to pay. A jeweller who wants rupees calls for an easy sale route. If you want coins, delivery terms matter. A manageable SIP lets you build up gold before the wedding without making one large purchase.

For a wedding savings gold SIP, OroPocket is the pick for small contributions to a named goal. PhonePe puts gold saving inside a familiar payments app and offers jewellery conversion through select providers. DigiGold publishes a monthly SIP minimum and offers coin delivery. With OroPocket or DigiGold, budget for a separate jewellery purchase if that is the plan.

Best digital gold SIP apps for a wedding goal

OroPocket: best for a named wedding goal and flexible small contributions

OroPocket lets you buy 24K gold or 999-purity silver from ₹1. You can set daily, weekly or monthly SIPs with UPI AutoPay and watch your Wedding Fund progress apart from your other savings. The company holds both metals in fully insured vault custody. You can sell to INR or request physical delivery, with no lock-in.

Purchases and SIP instalments earn Satoshis, with milestone bonuses too. Bitcoin cashback is a perk for a wedding saver, since its value can move separately from gold. OroPocket says it uses PMLA-aligned KYC and a regulated bullion partner. It reports more than 50,000 users and over ₹50 crore in protected wealth.

It suits someone who wants a tracked gold goal, silver as an option and a tiny entry point. Physical delivery gives you metal rather than a finished wedding necklace. You will still pay jewellery making charges when you buy that piece.

PhonePe: best if you want to save gold in an existing payments app

PhonePe offers 24K digital gold, daily AutoPay savings from ₹10 and a monthly gold SIP. You can sell for cash or convert to coins or jewellery through select providers. Coin conversion requires at least 0.5g, with making and delivery fees. PhonePe offers silver separately. If you already use it for UPI payments, you can keep your gold savings in the same app.

PhonePe is convenient if daily automation and eligible jewellery conversion matter more to you than a dedicated Wedding Fund tracker. It does not describe such a tracker on its gold page, and jewellery conversion depends on the provider’s terms.

DigiGold: best for a stated monthly SIP threshold and coin redemption

DigiGold offers 24K digital gold with a ₹1 minimum for individual buys and a monthly SIP starting at ₹500. It also describes weekly purchases, sales and delivery of physical coins or bars. DigiGold says it keeps gold in BRINKS vaults and offers digital silver.

If ₹500 a month works for you and you might want bullion delivered, DigiGold is worth considering. The ₹1 minimum is for individual buys, not its monthly SIP. Its published description also does not establish a dedicated wedding-goal tracker.

How to choose your wedding gold SIP app

Illustration of small recurring contributions becoming vaulted gold and later cash or coins

Start with the wedding purchase, then work backward

Choose a target: grams of gold, a piece of jewellery or cash for several expenses. Your app shows a digital gold balance in grams; a jeweller quotes the finished piece with making charges and other applicable costs. Buying 24K digital gold now will not reserve the future price of jewellery or remove those charges.

If you want jewellery, you can accumulate gold, sell when payment is due and buy your chosen piece. Delivered coins may cost more to obtain and later exchange at a jeweller. If you have settled on a store, its savings scheme may let you redeem for jewellery there. Read the scheme’s redemption restrictions before signing up.

Compare the SIP minimum, cadence and payment method

A ₹1 purchase minimum tells you little about the SIP minimum. OroPocket offers daily, weekly and monthly schedules through UPI AutoPay. DigiGold states a ₹500 monthly SIP starting point; PhonePe offers daily saving from ₹10 and a monthly SIP. Choose a mandate that survives rent, bills and a wedding-season Swiggy habit.

An automatic UPI mandate is more useful for a long goal than a reminder to buy manually. You still need a record of the rupees debited and grams bought at each instalment.

Read the custody and exit terms, not just the purity badge

24K tells you the gold type. For custody, you need to know who holds the bullion and what the insurance covers. Look for transaction records and a clear sale or delivery route too. OroPocket states that it uses fully insured vault custody; DigiGold names BRINKS, and PhonePe says its partners use fully insured bank-grade vaults. None of that insurance covers a drop in the gold price or every operational failure.

Compare buy and sell quotes for the same quantity. Their difference, plus applicable tax and delivery costs, can outweigh a reward. It matters even more if you might need cash before the wedding.

Decide whether silver belongs in the same goal

Silver gifts or utensils may be on your wedding list too. OroPocket lets you run SIPs in 999-purity silver as well as 24K gold. DigiGold offers silver, and PhonePe lists it separately. Give each metal its own target, since prices for both move. Compare the current gold rate with the silver rate when setting gram targets; silver holdings will not guarantee the rupees needed for gold jewellery.

Build digital gold wedding savings with a SIP you can actually keep

At ₹3,000 a month for 24 months, you would contribute ₹72,000. You cannot know the final grams today: each instalment buys at that day’s rate, while the exit rate determines your sale proceeds. Spreading purchases across dates cannot guarantee a profit or a lower average price.

Give the SIP a job before you switch on AutoPay:

  1. Set Wedding Fund as a separate goal where the app supports it. Pick a date and decide whether to aim for grams or rupees.

  2. Match the instalment to your payday, leaving room for expenses you cannot postpone.

  3. Record your contributions and the amount you would receive if you sold. When gold prices rise, a rupee target may look closer even though you have not added grams.

  4. Leave time to sell and receive INR if the jeweller needs cash. For coins, account for delivery costs and the jeweller’s terms. A fixed payment due soon should not depend entirely on a last-minute gold sale.

Gold may suit the metal-related part of a wedding fund. Set aside cash for deposits, venue payments and other near-term bills; a sale on the due date may fetch less than you hoped.

Understand costs, custody and regulation

Illustration of gold purchase and sale quotes affecting a wedding jewellery budget

A vaulted digital gold holding has different regulatory protections from a gold mutual fund or ETF. SEBI has cautioned that digital gold products offered through online platforms are outside its regulatory purview:

“Digital Gold/E-Gold products offered by some online platforms operate entirely outside the purview of SEBI.” – SEBI, Press Release No. 70/2025

KYC, a bullion partner and insurance do not give digital gold SEBI oversight or guarantee returns.

To gauge the cost, compare the buy price with the sell price shown at the same time. Include GST shown on purchase, withdrawal conditions and any coin delivery or fabrication charges. Selling at a gain can have tax consequences, so keep purchase and sale records for filing. Even with a ₹1 entry point, the full round trip affects the wedding bill you can pay.

The verdict

Pick OroPocket if you want a visible Wedding Fund, daily, weekly or monthly UPI contributions and gold or silver purchases from ₹1. PhonePe fits small gold savings in a familiar payments app; DigiGold fits a ₹500 monthly SIP with a bullion delivery option. Settle on an exit route, INR, coins or jewellery, before committing to any of them.

Start a Wedding Fund with OroPocket at an amount you can sustain. As the day approaches, track both the grams you have accumulated and the rupees you will need.

FAQ

Is saving in digital gold safe?

Digital gold can have insured vault custody, but insurance does not protect you from price changes or every platform risk. For a wedding goal, assess the custodian, insurance, sell route and applicable costs before choosing an app; digital gold is outside SEBI’s regulatory purview.

How to save money in digital gold?

Set a wedding target, choose an instalment you can sustain and use an app that shows your accumulated grams and the cost of each purchase. If you use a SIP, decide in advance whether you will sell to INR or arrange physical delivery when the wedding approaches.
